I’m on a plane to Detroit right now.  Wah.  I’ll go from there to Tokyo, and then to Taipei where I’ll meet my host family.  I’m super nervous.  But my host mom has honestly done the best thing she could do to make a good impression via email.  I hope she’s as wonderful in person.  Landing soon.  Wah.  This is all so surreal.

Random grammatical musing: That’s a funny rule of English.  I never paid attention to the fact that the gerund form of panic is panicking.  I’m trying to think of other examples but I can’t right now.  I’m sure there are others.
